Re: MONEAR FAMILY
In Response To: Re: MONEAR FAMILY ()

I just had to get into this discussion. I am Jeanne's third cousin.

I have been tracing the Monear's for 2 1/2 years now. I started this research with nothing but an old obituary notice that I found in my mother's old cedar chest. Until then, I didn't even know my great grandfather's name. I have had wonderful success finding the family that immigrated in 1844 on board the Hottinguer from Liverpool to the Port of NY. They moved to Kenosha Co, Wisconsin then to Richmond, McHenry Co, Illinois. Some of their descendants stayed in Wisconsin others went to Minnesota and North Dakota.

William Monear (1808-1865) and Martha Christian (1810-?) were our original immigrants. I'm convinced that William was the son of William McNameer and Jane Killey. The line I have pieced together goes like this:

William McNameer / spouse Joney Corlet
John McNameer (1741-?)/ spouse Margaret Radcliffe (1742-?)
William McNameer (1772-?) / spouse Jane Killey (? - 1810)

If the date of death is correct for Jane Killey it means she died when our 3rd great grandfather was only 2 yrs old.

Please correct me if I have anything incorrect. We (Jeanne and I) would love to learn anything else about these people that anyone might know.
