Re: corrin
In Response To: corrin ()

There is an Eva Rome aged 4 in the 1901 census in the parish of Maughold. In the census there are 14 individuals in Maughold named Rome. The oldest of these Romes is John Rome a naturalized British subject, aged 60, possibly Eva's grandfather. I can find nothing on the IGI. Per the 1881 census he was born in Italy. If so may have (a) changed his name to Rome and (b) been a Roman Catholic and thus not be in the Parish records. He and his wife Catherine, are in the 1881 census (but no Romes the 1871 census) together with six children aged between one year and 19 years old.
The 1901 census has three candidates for Robert Corrin:
11 months in Onchan born in Douglas,
9 years in Malew, born in malew
11 years in Braddan, born in Douglas

Having said all that, I realized that Brian Lawson's site will have dissenting marriages and I suggest you go there (www.lawsons.ca), as it is a great resource for Manx family research. If you do, you will find Eva Rome and Robert Henry Corrin in 1922 as well as as some likely siblings.
Also on his website you can find an index of IOM burials including Eva Corrin 21 Feb 1962 age 66, Catherine Rome May 11 1902 age 59 and John Rome Feb 10 1907 aged 78.
Good luck
