you may have seen "the story of Rose Mount Methodist church 1886-1956" by Ramsey B Moore - on p13 he states:
"the cost of the spire was met by a bazaar opened on the first day by the Speaker of the House of Keys, Mr Dalrymple Maitland and on the second day by Mr & Mrs Joseph Kaye [Mayor of Douglas]"
he states work commenced in Aug 1910 after a 1909 urging by Minister to complete the building - the designed manse however was not built - Mr Sydney Kaye left the present manse to the trustees - by 1920 only £65 debt remained and this was paid off by Miss Gelling of West View
