Re: Ann Christian and brother Thomas - Jurby

I think you have the Christians of Ballamoar Jurby (not Ballaugh)
I have traced a Capt. Patrick Christian who was the son of Donald or Daniel (!) of Ballamoar and brother of Thomas, the heir.
Thomas d. 1691 leaving an only son Thomas.

Patrick (d. 1697) m. Elinor Quayle of Ballaquayle Onchan, yngr sister of Elizabeth the heiress. Patrick and Elinor had property in Douglas.

I think Daniel or Donald may have been the son of Patrick Christian (d. 1632?) and Christian Brew.

I have been trying to establish where the Christians of Ballakilley, (Ellerslie) Marown, fit into this family.

John Christian, Miller of Marown, was the father of "Sir" Thomas Christian, 1st Vicar Christian of Marown. Sir Thomas was a cousin to Thomas Christian of Ballamoar, and to the Crowes of the Nappin, Lezayre.

Mrs Ruth O'Keefe wrote about these families in the IOMFHS Journal.

Please do not place much weight on entries in I.G.I. at this early date.
