Hi
there are no passenger records at Liverpool AFAIK (I suspect you were directed to Liverpool Central Library and record Office where I have spent a few days researching Manx related material) - the US records are grouped by port of entry - it is possible that they travelled to Canada and then down to Ohio (if so I suspect they won't appear on any records as I think the quarentine station records post date the 1850's - however please check)

Ebeneezer is more usually associated with Primitive rather than Wesleyan Methodism - however the famous PM training college at Manchester (later named Hartley college) was not founded until 1881 thus if Charles was on a formal training course then he must have been at a Wesleyan Methodist college - Westminster college for teachers was founded 1851 (in westminster London) though I think there was an earlier training institute for ministers.
