I wonder if anyone can help in my search for Cornelius Skelly in 1891 please. I have, to the best of my ability looked for him on Man and in mailand UK, but without success.
He was certainly alive! I have him twice in 1871, in 1 Lake Lane Peel and aboard the Heather Bell with John Christian and others.
In 1881, he is at 8 Glenfaba Road, Peel and aboard another fishing boat, the Matchless with James Watterson and a different (related?) John Christian.
In 1901 he is at Kimberley House, Marine Parade and I think that this makes the property number 8 if it concurs with the present Kimberley House, on Marine Parade.
The problem I have with 1891 is that he is missing! The ancestry.com index gives me nothing and the 1891 census that I have looked at lists properties in Marine Parade (based on the enumerator's numbers) as follows:-
1,2,3,7,10, then - Creg malin Hotel, Walpole House,Marnia(?) House, Stanley House, Athol House, Marine Parade, Marine Parade (both un-numbered) and then Gib Lane starts.
I wonder if 8/Kimberley House is missing, did it exist ? was it built ? missed in my copy? or have I missed something essential ?
Any help would be appreciated and in turn I seem to have a fascinating collection of people in and around this area, including Robert and Emma Qualyle who may be related to Cornelius's second wife, Elizabeth, if this crosses anyone's lines. I have Cornelius back to late 1700's, with certaint and speculatively to 1720, crossing a Kneale, Moore, Killey, Cubbon and Callister - again happy to share this,
Thanks in advance
Paul
