Re: Corlett connections
In Response To: Corlett connections ()

Barbara - Hi.

I think possibly the reason for the trouble you're having with Isabella is down to her re-marriage. You doubtless have the M.I. of her first husband James Wood who died 3 Dec 1814 in his 42nd year.
On the 4th February 1815 the widowed Isabella advertised for debtors to send in their accounts. On 23 November 1817 Isabella Woods and Christopher Doran were married at Malew. Isabella was buried 16 Jan 1833 aged 60 at Malew. In her will (Arch. 1833 13) she mentioned daughter Elizabeth (who got her house in Malew St., Castletown) and son James Wood.
There is a baptism at Malew of Isabel the daughter of William Corlet and Elinor Christian, 3rd Jan 1773, but the only will showing up for a Wm Corlett in Castletown/Malew was registered in 1773, so unless Isabel was postumous this didn't look promising. This connection therefore not proved.

Cheers.
