Re: Radcliffe Farm
In Response To: Re: Radcliffe Farm ()

This is getting interesting....I didn't know that there were Radcliffs in Rockford, Illinois, but I knew there were Manx. My great-grandmother was Mariah (aka Maria)Kissack, daughter of John W.Kissack and Jane Mylcharaine and they lived at Pecatonica, Winnebago County, Illinois (near Rockford). She married Robert Richard Radcliffe (of Chicago)there in 1877. He was born 29 Jul 1835,the son of James Radcliffe and Ann Sayle of Andreas IOM.

My mother said that "cousins" from Cleveland visited Robert in Chicago... Nellie (Ellen)Brew and Carrie Pattison, and I'm wondering if they were daughters of Robert's sister, Catherine Radcliffe and William C.Brew. (To add to the confusion it appears that Nellie Brew married a William Brew.) I would be interested in knowing if any Radcliffs in Rockford would be siblings of Robert's. According to family stories, Robert met Mariah at a social event of the Manx Society in Chicago and I know she had sisters living in Chicago. It would be fun to compare notes with other Radcliff researchers.
