I am transcribing a 1857 IOM will and am having difficulty with a being of symbols or abbreviations which probably refer to sums of money being bequeathed to heritors. The symbols could be G or S (e.g. I leave to my son John Ss). I would be grateful if someone could direct me to a source of abbreviations that may have been used for Pounds, Guineas, Shillings etc. at that time.
