Re: Tate/Kermode families
In Response To: Re: Tate/Kermode families ()

Dear Ron,
I cannot believe I have a reply so quickly. Thank you so very much. I will have to put this all down on paper to comprehend it. My father, just 80 last month, is grandson to Walter Tate. Not knowing the names, and being unable to pick up Josiah in South Australia, I had just about given up. I will keep you e.mailed, as I too picked up the John Tate married to Eleanor Kermode through LDS, but it looked as though the Kermode was her mother's name, and that she had not married the father William Shimmin. Walter Tate died young, 20th December, 1906, married to Ellen Donovan. They had six children of whom my grandmother, Mona Eleanor Tate, was the eldest. You might be interested to know that the youngest child, who died at aged 15 months, was named John Kermode Tate. My grandmother married Charles Vince Bradley, son of a former Policeman (Irish/Tyrone) from Bendigo, but lived in Melbourne.

Now that I have your info, I can follow the links. Please ask specific questions, or I could mail my printouts to you.

Thank you so much again.

Lorraine Daly.
