Re: Tate/Kermode families
In Response To: Tate/Kermode families ()

Hi Lorraine Daly.

My Grandparents came to South Australia on the "Cicero" in 1880 with their son
Frank Tate and my Grandfathers brothe Walter Tate ( Of whom I am still trying to trace). My Grandfather was Edward Tate born 1854 Parish Of Malew Isle Of Man, and Grandmother was Anne Quirk born 1859 at Port Erin Parish of Rushen IOM.
Grandfather Edwards parents were John Tate born c1822 Parish of Bradden, and his wife was Ellen (Eleanor) Shimmin born c 1821 Parish of Marown IOM. Their children were John Tate born 1848 Parish of Malew, Edward Tate born c 1853 Parish of Malew, Phillip Tate born c 1856 Parish of Malew and Walter born c1862
Parish of Malew.
The Parents of Great Grandfather John Tate was William Tate and Ann Sayle.
My Grandfather died in Adelaide 1953 at 99 yrs of age.
His brother Phillip died in Adelaide 1948 92 yrs of age.

I have tried to trace Jeremiah and William Walter Tate on the IOM to see if they are related of which I am sure they are.
I believe they are all related to Godfrey Tate a policeman who came from Northern Ireland to serve on the Isle Of Man.
Originally the Tate's came from Scotland and descend back from Iceland.

I hope this may help you, and feel free to contact me at any time re the Tate's.

Rgds Ron Tate
