I've come across a family photo of three young gentlemen in uniform. That's all I have to go on...nothing else. I have no idea who it might be...so I thought I'd try and find out what branch of the military it might be.
I just received an email from a gentleman in Canada who dates the uniform at somewhere between 1900 - 1914. He goes on to say, "They are all privates and wearing their Full Dress uniform. This style of uniform was worn by both the British Army and the Canadian Militia at the time, but the cap badge does not conform to any Canadian unit. The badge is pretty much identical to that worn by the Queen's Own West Kent Yeomanry."
The men are all wearing a cap badge with a horse standing over a scroll.
My great-grandfather's family was living in Castletown about this time, and I'm trying to figure out if one of the men is a relative. If anyone has any expertise in this area, I can send a scan of the photo. I know it's not much to go on...but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway. Thanks.
