I have it on good authority that the Poor House was the Poor Asylum and it then became known as "The Mannin Infirmary" in the early 1950's.
Later on it was changed again, this time to "Cronk Grianaugh".
At about the same timespan the " Mental Hospital" became known as the "Ballamona Hospital".
This was after the National Health Servise was formed by the then Labour Goverment in 1948.
This was after the shakeup in the Hospital Service.
All of the cutlery that was used at the Poor Asylum had the name "The Poor Asylum" engraved on them, also the bedding etc.
