Part of Ballamona has gone, including a tower, which was tried to be saved because of its architectural value. Various wards attached to Ballamona are still there. I think they are in the more modern buildings, with different names. Not sure of details here. There is a lot of 'care in the community', with the Government buying and refurbishing private houses for people with learning difficulties now, which could open up another discussion, but NOT FOR THIS BOARD! The new general hospital is currently being built on the Ballamona Site, and I can assure you, by just a look out of my front window, it is of some size, stretching right across my western vista. I suppose one day the town will reach it, just like it did the present Noble's hospital. THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO OPEN ANOTHER DISCUSSION on the siting of the hospital. NOT ON THIS BBOARD, ANYWAY. There has been enough in the papers and on the local radio. If you haven't been to the Strang for a while, you would not recognise it now. What a roundabout! And street-lighting. BUT THIS IS NOT FOR THIS BOARD. s.
