in an earlier posting A person by the name of Frances Coakley stated that last names beginning with 'D' are not common on the Isle of Mann or at least not Manx. But now I need a direct answer to the following reference to "THE DOLLOUGH FAMILY" in this following document:1662. THE PROTEST OF WILLIAM McYLREA.
[Note: The following two documents are to be found among the official papers relating to the Rising of 1651, but were not published in the Manx Society’s volume xxvi ‘ Illiam Dhone and the Manx Rebellion.’ William McYlrea, The Dollough, retained the favour of the Stanleys and was appointed Captain of Ballaugh. In the next three genera-tions THE DOLLOUGH FAMILY produced two Deemsters and an Attorney-General.]
Are there any other records about the DOLLOUGH FAMILY? Who were / are they and where did they come from? What became of them? I am trying to find the country that a Christian (Logardin?) Dolloff (surname spellings vary; using phonics may be helpful) came from. He appeared in Exeter New Hampshire sometime between 1650 and 1658. Can any one help?
