Re: Searching for 'exiled' Corcoran ancesters

Thank you for the reply and for the website.

I'm not offended. As for being 'Rubbish' - I think that there is something to the family lore. It is also recorded in a short family history written by
a grandson of Daniel Corcorans. I believe that Daniel Corcoran and eldest
son, John, were taken away from their family during the Irish uprising. The
reason may or may not have even been for possession of a sword. Whether they
were exiled to the Isle of Man or elsewhere - I do not know. That is what I
am trying to determine. I know that family lores have a habit of being
changed over time - but I do believe that there is also some truth to it.

Unfortunately, I am not knowledgable in the history of Ireland or the Isle of
Man. That is why I posted my inquiry. I thought maybe there might have been
a prison or perhaps a holding area where the British shipped the exiled
people elsewhere. I know that alot of England's prisioners where shipped to
Austrailia.

I am short of time and have been slowly going through the Isle of Man links -
I have not seen anything that would pertain.

Perhaps someone on the board will have an idea.

Thanks again.
