I've just come back from a visit to the IOM where I managed to discover some young cousins but I seem to be totally unable to go back past my grandfather: Robert Edward Kewley 1876-1951). I can first place him in Douglas in 1902. I am told he had 'several brothers (one called Thomas, lived in Queen's Terrace, Douglas, c1930s)and a sister', some who emigrated to S. Africa. I have found his grave in Braddan Cemetery but can't seem to progress any further.
From the 1881 census I can only find one Robert Edward, living in Laxey (Lonan) and there are enough brothers and sisters to make it possibly him but how can I make a definite connection between this young boy in Laxey and the man in Douglas? There are no living relatives with any more knowledge.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
