Following research of the various addresses my Cretney ancestors lived in Sulby during the mid to late 1800's, I recently found an advertisement via im.museum for an auction by Mr Chrystal of a cottage in the centre of Sulby due to take place on 25 August 1887. This cottage it states was recently occupied by Thomas Cretney and I know that he left the island that year to live with his daughter in Manchester. Frustratingly no more details of the cottage are given i.e. it's name or position and I whether it is possible to find out any more detail. Does anyone please have any suggestions for a non-island dweller?
