One mistake in my first reply. The name of the man according to Roberta who adopted the orphaned Corkills was Joseph Almond. and he apparently left a diary in which the names of some Corkills appears. Roberta's words as follows: "The guardian was a man named Joseph Almond (sic) who by chance left a diary— a copy is in the Corpus Christi Library. Mr. Almond (sic) mentions the boys in his diary often but the time was when they were older and the meetings were in passing in travels around the area”. She further wrote: Our William Corkill, the son was a founding member of the Methodist Church at Corpus Christi so I think we can safely say the family were Methodists as well. William Corkill's, the father, death was reported in the Texas State Gazette, page 368, C3, 5 Aug 1854 age 35.. No mention of Eleanor. She gives the LDS film number for the Samuel Lawrence passenger list as LDS 0200173.. Perhaps it's on FamilySearch for free.
