Re: John Cubbon buried at St. Marks

just finished a few deeds I photo'd last week - one mentions Wm Cubbon(difty) occupying an old house adjacent to his property as tenant in 1829 - also a deed dated 1816 a few yrs before her death by Alice selling prop to her 2 spinster daus - and in 1820 these daus buying the field near the crofts at the end of Malew st referenced in the book I mentioned earlier

Wm was noted shortly before his death in 1851 census as a retired blacksmith - I've not come across the tag difty before and seems linked solely to this family - can't find in any manx dictionary so suspect an english based nickname but how derived I can't determine - Wm enters himself in gentry in both 1823 and 1836 directories - very upmarket blacksmith - his sibling spinster sisters must have had fair amount of money as paid £100 to mother and £325 to buy the field
