I have found a copy of a document signed in 1796 relating to the Estate of an Alice Moore 'late of Douglas'. It refers to the purchase of her Concerns in Douglas by Philip Moore of Pulrose. It is signed by her daughter Isable Cavendish, widow, and her granddaughter Sarah Cavendish. It is witnessed by Richard Clague and Elinor Coski...?
I think Sarah might be the daughter of William Corjeag/Cavendish & Isabel Moore married in Braddan in 1759, possibly the one baptised in Liverpool in 1776. (Although that would mean William must have died before 1796 and I have no record of that.)
However, I would really like to find out who Philip Moore was, as well as Isable Moore and her mother Alice. I wonder if Richard Clague was related in some way too, but I don't know who he is either.
I was completely surprised to find this document among Collister/Clague family papers, not Cavendish, and would love any information which would help solve the mystery of why it was there.
