The transcripts of the wills you saw were mostly made by Joyce M Oates, plus some from Pat Galovich.

Are you certain you saw “the transcriptions of Archdeacon Wills 1628 through 1689 posted on Brian Lawson’s wonderful site”? Brian’s index and transcripts are now on the IOMFHS website, and many transcripts are missing.

There are several of Joyce’s TEARE transcripts on Ian Radcliffe’s website, as well as the indexes:

Bear in mind that pre-1700 most women left wills under their maiden names, and you need to check possible parents/siblings etc. who may have named her and/or her children.

When you write up your research for your family or online please don’t forget to record who transcribed each will or summary you have copied, and the website it came from.
