Hi Cheryl, Thanks for the message. All our McDonald people seem to have the same info, that Jonothan was born in 1801 on the Isle of Man. The old-timers (of which I am now one) all said that he was very adamant that he was "English". Apparently he and two brothers came to eastern PA about 1830. The brothers soon went to Canada and nothing more is known about them. About 20 years ago a cousin hired a professional researcher in the Isle of Man to do a search, but nothing turned up. I'm guessing Jonathan met Christina in Wilkes Berry, possible at a bakery. She lived mostly with an uncle and aunt who were bakers, and she worked in the store. Her father was also a baker. I have more to tell, but will send another message--I have to get to the local school for a couple of presentations, -Bruce
