I’ve read some (but not all) of the messages in that long thread you mentioned, Sue, and I’m wondering whether the Robert Gill who married Margaret Kermeen in 1835 and then died in 1840 was the son of the Robert Gill butcher 1780-1837 (husband of Eleanor Barker and Sarah Buchanan alias Looney) because Robert Gill’s 1840 will mentions siblings James, Hannah and Ellen. The IGI has baptisms for 3 of the children of Robert Gill and Eleanor Barker as James, Eleanor and Hannah.

One of the children of Robert Gill and Sarah Buchanan alias Looney was John Joseph Gill b 1835. When this JJG married Anne Eliza Cain in Lezayre in 1856, he gave his father’s details as Robert Gill, butcher.
