My DNA project has uncovered several problems in the Kaighin tree I created several years ago, So I'm working through the German rent rolls in order to rectify these problems - something I haven't done until now.
I need to understand the quarterland and treen boundaries in order to understand the rents and various transactions for each property. The problem - as you noted - is that Corvalley seems to straddle Scaresdale and Sandall at various times. And it's not consistent over time. I'm uncertain when and if the quarterland boundary changed or the treen boundary changed - or both!
Nigel provided me with the Cubbon map yesterday. That map only adds to the confusion, since he appears to have made a number of mistakes. Among other problems, he swapped Ballakaighin with Corvalley, showing Ballakaighin as the most northern quarterland in Sandall.
My working assumption is that originally, Corvally was situated entirely within Sandall, but over time, the treen boundary moved south, splitting the quarterland in half. Also there appears to be two relatively recent (post-1700) additions to Corvalley for unknown reasons. One is the piece that cuts into Stockfield (Stockhill), the other - a sliver along the coast formerly part of Ballakaighin
