Re: Quark & Moore families Lonan late 1600s
In Response To: Re: quark family ()

I think I can follow it Nigel and thank you for adding more info. Re "next of kin Patrick Christian", I relooked at my original faded photostat of Phil Moore's 1681 Lonan will and where I had "The next of kin on ye fathers side viz Cath: Christian & ye oldest Daughter are to be sworn supervisors ...", the "Cath;" is very faint and I can see how it could be "Patt:". I'll resubmit an amended version of the will when I get a chance.

I didn't know about this Patrick Christian and his being the husband of the second sister (after Margaret), named Anne. I see on the Notebook that Anne Christian was buried 19 Feb 1741/42 Lonan aged "five score and six", ie 106!! Wow! The entry above, a widow named Fayle of Laxey Glen was 100. Are these really true, or do we have a parish clerk prone to exaggeration? Given that age 106, Ann Christian als Moore was born ca 1636 and her sister Margaret before that. The half-siblings born of Philip Moore by his second wife (Christian Looney?) would be 40 years younger.

Those two young half-siblings Thomas & Kath would be born after Phil's first wife Margaret died 1674. The 1685 admin of orphan Kathrin Moor underage, says brother Thos is sole admr. But he couldn't be more than 10 years old. Is this possible, or shouldn't it make a reference to a supervisor? Maybe that bit got lost or missed in the transcription, if it existed.

If Kath indeed died early, then my theory that the 1697 will extract of Christian Quark als Looney [that mentions dau cath, step-son jo quark & wife jane quark als Cluage, son thos moore, husb john ] starts to fail as being the 2nd wife of Phil Moore, because I assumed "dau cath" and "son thos moore" would match up. Unless she had another Cath by John Quark after 1685. Possible I guess.
