Thanks. In 1911 census Laura then aged 27 was still living in Castletown with her mother & brother (my grandfather as yet not married). Laura's mother died aged 70 in 1927 so I assume it was round that time that Laura had to be admitted. As a child I can understand not being told but I think as an adult Laura's life should have been told to me. At college I did 2 weeks work experience in the children's dept at Ballamona & still nothing was said. As you say in today's society handicapped people can live very well under supervision. I really wish I could find out more about great aunt Laura & visit her grave in Malew. She died aged 70 in 1953. So sad.
