Hi Jean,
Thanks for the summary. A couple of things occurred to me.
Firstly, about the different hand filling in details in their 1911 census entry - could Annie have said she was born in Port-e-Vullen and the English enumerator thought she said Port Erin which was an IoM place name he recognised?
But I thought Port-e-Vullen is in Maughold rather than Ramsey? [Your summary (1)]
Secondly, I've realised why Mary Ann Caley might have been entered in the 1861 census as "Margt" - a slip of the tongue by someone because Margt was possibly her elder sister? (Pre-marriage?)
I don't think I gave all the children of John Caley & Isab Corkill in that old Caley message, so I have listed all the bapts I have in Maughold with John Caley as the father. As you can see there was also an earlier couple with the same names.

Mary Ann's parents' marriage: John Caley / Isabella Corkill 7 Mar 1835. They were not from Ramsey (which would have been recorded).
The illegitimate Annie/Anns are too many to check without the Presentments.
With a quick look at Ramsey bapts of single mothers 1853-57, there are at least five with Ann in their names. Three Ann Jane [Wareing; Thornhill; Gill], Margaret Ann [Moore] and Mary Ann [Joughin].
Also an Andreas Annie Jane [Radcliffe] with single mother, who I found before I limited the search to Ramsey because dozens came up.
