Thanks Penny. This thread prompted me to look on Ancestry and there were a lot of Keed trees on there for my lot. None going further back than my own records which suggests that the Keed name probably came over from England or Scotland in the 1700s. Goes to show not all C, Q, K surnames are Manx.
