I recently posted a thank you to the 40+ folk who were kind enough to read my last post- but I am still as confused, and no further on.
My aunt Frances Marion Christian Shimmin was the daughter of Philip Shimmin and Catherine Christian Kewley, born 1887. Mary M pointed out that Frances married Philip Henry Quayle in 1916, but by then she was a "Clarke" widow.I think I have checked marriages, and maybe thought that the 1916 wedding might point to her being a WW1 widow. I have checked MI's for Peel area- nothing that would match up . Following last post checked the three Clarkes on Frances 's Manx notebook with Commonwealth graves, nothing found. I have tried Ancestry, and while I could not find my Frances on 1911, as a Clarke or Shimmin, I did note that she appears on three public members trees. Two have no details, other than I know, but the third has her in Canada in 1916- the year she married Philip Quayle on the Island, so I guess I should rule that out too.
Anyone any ideas where or how I can find the wedding to a Clarke, or where she was in 1911?
Many thanks for reading this, and any help would be much appreciated. Colin Shimmin
