Joughin

My uncle did a bit of family research years ago-- and from it we know that we are descendants through Hugh Joughin (clerk at the Christ Church, Lezayre)... and that the family farm was called Ballacree.

Shortly after Hugh died (on the IoM) his widow left for North America with children that included James Joughin, my great-great grandfather.

I was quite fortunate enough, in the mid-1990s to visit the Isle of Man and to see some of the family graves and the church record books, kept in the hand of my great-great-great grandfather (Hugh) and how the handwriting changed at the entry of his own death.

I'd like to learn more.
Where do I start?

Many, many thanks in advance--
Terri
