Many thanks for the advice. I must take a look at that thread.

I am just a "part-time" family historian and the information I have about Thomas and his family has been gathered gradually from Record Office certificates, Manx researchers, Brian Lawson's wonderful census indexes and help from the message board. I have had time to dip into the family research this week as we have workmen in the house, so cannot do much else. As I said before, I knew nothing of my Manx connections as my grandfather William Christian died more than 20 years before I was born and my Dad never spoke of his father, perhaps because he lived in Liverpool and was only 9 years old when his father died

I am so pleased to have discovered as much as I have already and am so grateful to people like yourself who offer help and advice.
