Viv, you mentioned Taubman Caine from German. He was ch 20 Jun 1836 German died 9 Apr 1838 German s/o William Caine of Skerrisdale and his wife Ann Caine of the Ballanae Michael Caines.
Father William was ch 3 Oct 1790 German s/o John Caine and Jane TAUBMAN--she d/o Thomas Taubman & Margery Boddaugh

It just seemed a bit of a coincidence - but John Taubman Caine who married Annie Elizabeth Forsythe was definitely born in Onchan about 1868. Maybe there was some connection in the Taubman Caine families generations earlier? If I find anything I'll let you know.
