Howland/Curphey

Hello all

I am trying to get an idea of the significance of clusters of graves - I assume a cluster might usually be a "family plot" and therefore indicate some connection between those buried.

In Lezayre Old Yard there is a group of graves #535-539.
#535 is Isabella Kneen (Howland) (also Elizabeth Tuthill, who is Isabella's husband's cousin).
#536 is Daniel Kneen, Isabella's husband.
#537 is a small stone marked DK - don't know who this is
#538 is Mary Gawne (als Howlan) wife of Daniel Gawne
#539 is two of Daniel and Isabella's children (William and Daniel)

Why might Mary Gawne be in this group?

Poking around in MNB and IGI (unfortunately my LDS Lezayre film loan went back before I could check these properly) I find:

Mary Gawne was Mary Howlan(d) (bapt 21 Apr 1782 Lez) and married Daniel Gawne 2 Feb 1811 Lez. I believe she was the eldest of three daughters of William Howland and Bridget Kewn/Kewin (Curphey), widow of Ewan Kewn/Kewin. Bridget and Ewan married 26 July 1768 Lez, had one child (Daniel, bapt 25 Jun 1769 Lez). Ewan died 29 Nov 1769.

Bridget must have been pretty young when she married Ewan Kewn, as she married William Howland in 1780, which I think would have her in her late 20s by then. After Mary, their other daughters were Catherine (bapt 15 May 1785 Lez), and Elizabeth (bapt 27 Mar 1788 Lez).

Isabella Kneen (Howland) died in 1870 aged 80 y. This puts her birth at ~ 1790. Is it possible that she could be a 4th daughter of William Howland and Bridget Curphey for whom there is, for some reason, no record of baptism (or perhaps adopted, illegitimate, other relation taken into family…)?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
