I know exactly what you mean about the crossings - last one I was on they had to close the shop because things kept jumping of shelves and drink machines falling off walls. It was only when one of the passengers started singing 'O Ellan Vannin.......' that I started wishing we were a bit nearer home ............
Anyway thank you very much for that information - you know that I will buy another updated version as soon as poss!!!
If there was a contract for William Quine and Margaret Halsall would a contract for Christian Quine (sister of the aforementioned William) have been produced? Christian married William Shimmin in May 1773 and I'm still trying to find out where he came from. I wonder if he was connected to the Ballabooie Shimmins because land that was mentioned in a sale / deed between Richard Shimmin and the Duke of Atholl (Richard was son of William Shimmin) was very near to Ballabooie. It was just a thought and hasn't been proved yet.
A small number of families around that area seemed to be very intermingled - Shimmin / Quine / Collister / Radcliffe.
Thanks again - your help is greatly appreciated and I'll be in touch soon to get a copy of the CD.
