Hello - I am researching my "Docherty" family lineage. I believe the family's lineage begins in Ireland > Isle of Man > Ontario, Canada & then to the USA. Would love to hear from anyone connected to this family or suggestions on where to look for data outside the USA where I live.

II have a death record that state my 3rd Great Grandfather, Thomas Docherty, was born in Canada on March 17, 1838 and died in Michigan, USA in 1919. The information is only as good as the provider gives. I have reason to believe he was actually born in Ireland or the Isle of Man to Edmund Doughtery & Jane Teare. Thomas's death record states parents names unknown but both born in Ireland.

I have reason to believe the following information connects these people as parents to my Thomas Docherty.

Name variations of Daugherty, Dougherty, Dorathy & Docherty
Lived in Andreas, Isle of Man, England in 1841
Migrated from Liverpool England to New York, New York in 1843 on the Ship named "Hebe" with his wife and 6 children
By 1851 the family Migrated from New York to Oxford Co, East Zorra Twp, Ontario, Canada (per 1851 Canadian Census)
The family still lived in Ontario, Canada in 1861
Edmond was a farmer
Had 6 known children
I believe Edmund Died in 1865 in Ontario Canada

Married Jane Teare
Believe she was Born in 1806 Andreas, Isle of Man
Migrated with husband and children to New York and then to Canada
I believe she Died 1887 in Ontario Canada
