Hello,
My name is George B. Pendlebury. My father is the George Pendlebury who retired to Antigua for about 27 years then moved to Calgary, Alberta in July, 2009. Dad passed away on May 24th 2011. My father's father was George Taylor Pendlebury, who moved to Victoria B.C. after retiring from the Canadian Pacific Railway in Winnipeg. GTP's father was John Tuck Pendlebury who, in turn, was the son of James Pendlebury - the American Civil War veteran. It was while searching the internet for information about the latter that I stumbled across this site. Dad has corresponded with one, or more, of you and had a copy of James Pendlebury's journal which I hope to find this while going through his papers.
I must correct an inaccuracy in some of the information previously presented. While my father did receive a commission as a Pilot Officer in the RCAF, this happened in the late 50s or early 60s. During two periods of his life he was a licensed pilot but never flew Lancasters. He did, however, service Lancastrians while working for Trans Canada Airlines during WWII.
