Dear Barbara and all who have been contributing to this thread,
I haven't been in contact for a while but have now retired and have been looking into the family tree more deeply. I have found the family farm known as " Pendlebury Farm"
Barrow Bridge which was farmed by Jeremiah Pendlebury who was Jabez Pendlebury's Great Grandfather. I went up to Bolton to see it yesterday and itis up on the moors overlooking Bolton on Winter Hill. It was wonderful to seeeit and it looked quite forbidding as the weather was cold and wet up there and very windy. It is still called Pendlebury Farm and I have discovered a local artist who has done a pen and ink drawing of it. His name is Rob Miller if you want to put it into Google. The farm is a listed building and there is evidence that they previously farmed across the road at Tong Farm.
As the mills started it looks like they moved down into Halliwell which is part of Bolton. I also have some information about Joseph, Jabez brother who started a printers in Bolton and then started a daily newspaper which I think was called "The Weekly Journal and Gazette" and was started in 1871. Has anyone managed to go back beyond Jeremiah? I am trying to make links with Pendlebury's known to be in the area around 1235.
Best Wishes, Karen
