I've found a credible marriage for Alice Elizabeth Bower --- to a John Massey (a chemist/druggist) in Manchester in 1892. There were 3 children by 1901, one with a middle name of Bower. Alice's father's probate (1879, died 1877) shows the surname was Bower, not Bowers.

All academic, since she's probably not your Alice.

Interesting family to research, though.
