The only things I really want to know are
(1) Where Patty Eliza Benson came from - 1851 UK census says Adomack, Ireland but I cannot find any indication this place exists. I hoped her marriage records might assist.
(2) What Henry actually did on the island. He had been a very wealthy merchant/slave trader in London, orig. from Germany. He went bankrupt for about 450,000 pounds c. 1797 and went to IOM where he stayed till abt 1814 when he went to Devon and resumed trading. Apart from siring children, what did he do on IOM. From what I know he could have been trading on IOM.
