I know it seems strange. I have Harman (Hermann) ancestors from Germany who were immigrants from the area where Czechoslavakia is now, who went to Germany due to persecution for their Moravian beliefs in the late 1600's and early 1700s. On their way to America, they stopped on the Isle of Mann where Heinrich Hermann was born (the 2nd son of the family). They then went to the USA (PA) and helped to develop the Virginia frontier. They changed their name to Harman after getting to America.
