I know of a John Shimmon Cubine who married Elizabeth Louisa Harman. She was the daughter of frontier family in southwestern Virginia.
This was in the mid 1700s. Often the German immigrants headed for America would stop at the Isle of Mann to rest. Elizabeth's father, Adam Harman was born in the Isle of Mann during their visit back in the 17th century.
