in 1880 I think I'd get on a train at Peel and then change platforms at Douglas for the Castletown train somewhat easier than a 12+mile walk - apart from Peel the main fishing fleet was at Port St Mary - nothing much at Derbyhaven - there was a breakwater but no quayside facilities - Castletown harbour was not good but had quays and you could layup a boat over winter on the 'duckpond'.
Kinsale started sometime in late 1840's (look at the number of fishermens' wives as head of household in Peel - they fished for mackerel off Kinsale and lived there during season(there were specialist buyers boats to move the catch to market)
