Tony, the Maughold parish reg has a note on the record of the marriage of Thomas Tear & Elinor Joughin on 10 Feb 1837 that Thomas was from Bride.

The IGI has an extracted (from par reg) entry for the bapt of your Ellen Teare on 7 Jun 1837 in Bride, with parents Thomas Teare & Ellen Curphey.
Frances, are you saying that this has been wrongly indexed, and should be Joughin not Curphey? If so, well spotted! It would help to look at the film to confirm [Tony, LDS film no.0106713 or at the MM. Perhaps Frances would look if still in the IOM?]
Joughin is often mistranscribed by the LDS.

If correctly Joughin, Philip Allen will probably have the family details.
