Re: HARRY NICHOLAS
In Response To: Re: HARRY NICHOLAS ()

Hello David,

Thank you for your reply. To clarify I have a copy of HARRY NICHOLAS's Death Certificate, I obtained it about a month ago. It states that HARRY NICHOLAS died in The Infirmary, Braddan 24 April 1942. HARRY is listed on the 1911 Census as living in Braddan. Unfortunately the death was registered by the medical officer at the hospital, not a family member.

I don't know if HARRY had any family on the Isle, but I will look into the names you have provided in your message. You have also clarified that HARRY is buried in the Isle of Man as he is on the list of burials on the Isle.

HARRY NICHOLAS never divorced is wife, but he left his wife and three children behind in Chester, Cheshire. He returned to Chester briefly when he found out his wife, Rachel had died in 1928. He could have remarried. He obviously made a new life for himself in the Isle of Man, why he was there is a bit of a mystery.

I will now get to work on the names you have provided, I don't recognise any of the names but as HARRY was one of 10 children, all born in Bishops Castle, Shropshire, he may have had family members living in the Isle of Man.

Many thanks for all your help, it is greatly appreciated,

Jules
