depends as I said on degree of fluency - those who have attended a course or done some at school might claim to speak Manx but I'm judging by those I know who can hold more than a faltering semi-conversation (and comparing for example with those in Wales who could readily switch between languages) - maybe I move in wrong crowd but I know how difficult it was to get some more obscure bit of 18th C manx (a curse) translated - the same thing was true about census questions asked early in 20th C in that they exagerated the knowledge
