Interesting reading all the different accounts & experiences of the Balqueen. Living in Ballasalla , every summer I got a school holiday job working at Rushen Abbey. We loved the Wednesday(I think) mornings when we would see the coaches coming in from the Balqueen & the same really enthusiastic organiser each week. The guests always did the hokey cokey & ended up going out of one door, a little way into the gardens & then back onto the dance floor. The 'gay gordans' dance was also usually on the list. It was fun to watch.
