I went in 1959/60 with friends. There was a constant programme of events, tennis tournaments, dances, cycle trips to the Laxey Wheel. I hated the whole experience and vowed never to return to the island, however most normal people loved it returned year after year to the same colleagues, another reason I hated it even at 16. Did I return? No!
