He would have been born about 1816 but doesn't appear to have been baptised - unless it was a private baptism and it wasn't recorded.
There is a James, Elizabeth and Ann [ages 20,25,12] in BigWell St in 1841 but I suspect this is NOT the James I am looking for as there appears to be another James similar age who was living in BigWell St in 1881 and was in the House of Industry in 1891 who had a wife Lenore until she died in 1874.
My James died in 1875.
It is known that not all baptisms were recorded but I would have thought the census would have been a good bet. James Bridson and Elizabeth Kneen were married in 1838 but there is no trace of them in 1841 unless they were off the island at that time ?
