I looked in Ancestry trees and there's one which relates to this family. John Kermode married Ellen Rebecca Jones b 1868 (whose Suffolk family emigrated to NZ in the 1860s ) in Christchurch. They had 2 daughters, Elizabeth Mona Kermode b 1903 who married John William Cottier in 1932, and Esther Isabella Kermode b 1904.
The tree compiler doesn't give a birthplace for John Kermode, and his year of birth is calculated from his age at death----1853.
I thought I'd see if there was a Manx John Kermode who fitted the profile, and I've found a good candidate whose March 1853 birth fits well, and who can be found easily in 1861, 1871 and 1881, but seems to have left the island before 1891. He was an only child of Edward Kermode and Elizabeth Quaggan who married in Malew in 1852. Edward died age 33 in Sept 1853. The family were millers.
